While the ruling UPA has been talking about building a political consensus on the fight against terror, there is a discordant voice: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan. He believes tougher laws will not solve the problem as existing ones are enough. According to him, there was a need to strengthen intelligence agencies. The LJP chief, who has also been questioning the Government’s stance on the ban on SIMI, has declared that he would strongly oppose any proposal by the Centre to bring in a tough terror law.
