While the ruling UPA has been talking about building a political consensus on the fight against terror, there is a discordant voice: Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan. He believes tougher laws will not solve the problem as existing ones are enough. According to him, there was a need to strengthen intelligence agencies. The LJP chief, who has also been questioning the Government8217;s stance on the ban on SIMI, has declared that he would strongly oppose any proposal by the Centre to bring in a tough terror law.
