Landlord arrested for sexually assaulting girl in North Delhi’s Burari: Police

A girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her 52-year-old landlord in North Delhi’s Burari area on Friday, a police officer said. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the accused has been arrested, officers added.

The incident happened when the girl returned from her school to her house on Friday afternoon, and was alone in the house, according to police sources. “The landlord has a shop of religious amenities nearby. The man came inside the house on the pretext of house repairs,” a police officer said.

The accused then threatened to kill the girl and then sexually assaulted her, the police said. Later that evening, when the girl’s mother came back, she got to know about the incident. “The girl told her mother about the incident and she then filed a complaint. The medical test of the girl was done and a case was registered,” the officer added.
