Accepting Opposition leader J Jayalalithaa8217;s arguments regarding threats on her life from banned outfits, the Madras High Court on Monday ordered that a senior police official should prepare a report on her security apprehensions.

The security to be provided to the former CM would be ascertained by the Security Review Committee, added Justice Jayachandran, directing the Centre to continue extending the Z Plus category protection until then.

When she was the chief minister last time, Jaya was tough on Maoists and LTTE cadre and even sympathisers.

However, after the DMK Government took charge in the state, the security apparatus for her was scaled down, Jaya had alleged before approaching the court.

The officer, in the rank of superintendent of police, should now call on her to ascertain her concerns and present a report to the Security Review Committee.
