PAN date extended

NEW DELHI, June 30: The government has extended the last date for filing application for allotment of Permanent Account Number PAN to August 31, 1998. Earlier, the last date for filing application for PAN was June 30, 1998, for IT payers in respect of assessment year 1997-98. The specified date was June 30, 1998, of the relevant assessment year for the 1998-99 and onwards.

Finance ministry has received a large number of representations for further extending the last date June 30, 1998 in view of insufficiency of time for filing the requisite application forms. Central Board of Direct Taxes CBDT has decided to further extend the last date from June 30 to August 31.
