FEBRUARY 26: Paceman Pramodya Wickremasinghe and off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan shared eight wickets to shoot out Pakistan for 182 — their lowest at home to Sri Lanka — in the first Test on Saturday.

However, Waqar Younis struck back by removing Sri Lanka’s captain Sanath Jayasuria (17) and Marvan Ataputtu (8) as they reached 58 for two at close of play.

Pakistan’s satisfaction at their success with the new ball was tempered by Wasim Akram having to leave the field after bowling just 2.1 overs, because of what appeared to be a groin problem.
