Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has said his team will aim for the early dismissal of Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya when the two sides meet in their Super 8s match in Grenada on Monday.
8220;There is no doubt he Jayasuriya is a great player and we8217;d like to get on top of him early and knock him over. We are just concentrating on this,8221; said McGrath.
8220;From what we8217;ve seen, the pitch in Grenada is slower and takes some turn. It will be a big test for us, and probably suit Sri Lanka.8221;
Australia became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals after whipping debutants Ireland by nine wickets yesterday. They now lead the table with 10 points from five matches.
McGrath played a big role in Australia8217;s victory, grabbing three early wickets on a lively track to help his side dismiss the Cup debutants for 91. He was named man of the match. 8220;It the pitch had a lot more bounce than the others we8217;ve played on. To me, this is what West Indies cricket is about. I grew up watching four fast bowlers on fast, bouncy wickets8221;, said McGrath.
8220;In 1995 the wicket was good with carry and bounce, and in 1999 it was still ok, but by 2003 it was one the slowest I8217;ve ever played on,8221; he recalled.
