Seeking to allay fears over the outsourcing backlash, Union Communications and IT Minister Arun Shourie on Tuesday said India8217;s strengths in talent, skill and costs in software service would make it imperative for the US companies to outsource to India. 8216;8216;IT outsourcing backlash is a minor issue.

The combination of talent, skill and cost which India offers, is making it necessary for those firms to outsource to India, otherwise they will become uncompetitive,8217;8217; Shourie said on the sidelines of the second Asian IT ministers8217; conference.

The minister also asked Asian countries to focus on innovation in the IT sector. 8216;8216;We have an Asian advantage of wealth of knowledge. Asia8217;s software exports is likely to earn 88 billion revenue in 2004 and over half of the Fortune 500 companies have chosen Asia as a major part of their operations and is providing constant vibrancy to the IT sector8217;8217;, Shourie said.
