Fun amp; Food Bonanza
June and July are months when all air routes lead to Singapore. While shoppers worked up a frenzy at the Great Singapore Sale in June, July is the month when the foodies come alive at the Singapore Food Festival from July 2 to July 23, when everything that can be eaten is available. It8217;s a gourmet treat galore all the way, a time for food lovers to throw cholesterol worries and calorie caution to the winds and eat like there8217;s no tomorrow. Adding to the treat is the World Gourmet Summit 1999 from July 24 to 31, when chefs from all over the world present their choicest dishes at discounted festival prices. In other words, it8217;s the best of international cuisine at rock-bottom prices.
August is also the time for the Singapore River Fiesta August 1 to 15, when the Singapore river comes alive with music and dancing. Water sports and rides on traditional vessels form a part of the festivities. Not to be missed is the National Parade Day on August 9, when the country celebrates its 34th National Day with pageantry and fireworks. Singapore, it seems, is a great place to holiday all through July and August.
