Sea sells
Going to Goa to get some sun? Okay that was a bad joke. But admit it, in Goa the sun is welcome perhaps because it comes with a cachet of sea, sand and stupor. Well, while you are catching up on the Ramp;R, take some time off from tanning on the beach and drop in at Sosa8217;s. A fashion store in Panjim, it is home to the designs of Savio Jon, Priyadarshni Rao and Mumbai jewellery designer Jamini Ahluwalia8217;s creations. Savio, by the way, is a young Goan designer whose line in cottons and linens are just perfect for the summer. And this season he has used a lot of very cooling colours such as shell white and melon and has finished his clothes off with beads, shells and glass. Ummm8230; you can almost hear the waves crashing against the beach.
If you like the sound of his stuff but cannot go to Goa then drop in at Melange as they also stock his designs.

Indiaphiles
It seems that Indian models are taking the West by storm. But given that everything Indian is currently the rage, we are not surprised that desi faces are cropping up all over the place. The Style section of the Sunday Times magazine carried a feature on Indian designer wear and guess who were their muses? Sheetal Malhar and Sabrina Holkar. Now just last week we had mentioned that Sheetal was looking great 8212; I guess we can rest our case. quot;I was really excited when Tarun Tahiliani told me about the feature, quot; said Sheetal. She was approached by the London-based newspaper at the end of last year by Isabella Blair, a fashion guru from London who is a friend of Tahiliani8217;s. quot;Sumiko Nandashot the pictures in Delhi last year.quot; And since then Sheetal has been waiting for the pictures to hit the stands. quot;Every week I would ask when they were coming out. Then I finally stopped.quot; In fact, Sheetal has still not seen the photo-spread and is dying to get a copy of the newspaper. The timing could not be better 8212; of late, Sheetal has been busier than ever before. Besides being one of the highest paid ramp models she has just finished a series of campaigns for Sheetal and an ad-film for Titan. By the way, the ad is worth checking out. Sheetal has just married Diwaker Pundir when her ex-boyfriend Gautam Kapoor her real life fiancee shows up 8212; late as usual. He then gifts her husband the watch she had at one time given him. While the spot is a tear-jerker, we suspect Sheetal must8217;ve had a blast on location. Let the good times roll.
Cine ads
Ad film-makers making feature films and now feature film-makers making ads. Is the world going topsy-turvey, or what? And the person responsible forthe confusion is none other than Vidhu Vinod Chopra who crosses the divide to make an ad for a bank. Given his cinematic vision, a mere ad has been turned into a visual treat. Nearly 2,000 people 8212; out of which 700 were bankers 8212; swayed on the streets to the music of Ehsaan, Shankar Mahadevan and Loy. And Mumbai8217;s Flora Fountain looked as if it were touched up by a careful art director8217;s brush. So much so, that Chopra has decided to donate the special sprinkler system to the BMC 8212; if they maintain it. By the way, this is not the first time Chopra has made an ad. In 1990 he shot the spot that introduced Lehar Pepsi to India. The Are you ready for the magic film with Remo Fernandes and Juhi Chawla.
