Onscreen presence, what?

The contest, Face on the net, is being organised by the event management company, Entre Nous. Why use this high-profile technology for a simple beauty contest? States Sucheta Kudale, organiser, Entre Nous, “To make our Pune website more popular. It was Dev Nadkarni’s idea, the man at the helm of city website’s affairs.”

The countdown begins at the end of this weekend, as registration forms for the participants will be available at leading photography outfits in the city. The deadline is June 12. Informs Kudale, “The girls are requested to attach two passport size pictures – one with make-up and the other without. We will be announcing the collection centres soon.”

After that, while the participants sit pretty at home, local judges will scan through the entries and select the top 10. Thereafter, their photographs, along with the bio-data, will gain entry into the internet. Who will be the judges and how will the procedure work out? Says Sucheta, “We have been corresponding, through the net, to various celebrities across the world. We have received some confirmations. They will scan through the 10 pictures and profiles and send back their verdict.”

The end of June or the first week of July is when the final results will be out. Also, individuals from Pune are invited to send in their verdict. Says Sucheta, “If any individual’s judgement tallies with that of our panel of judges, then he or she stands to receive an attractive gift.”

Only, you have to be between 18 and 24 years of age. And who knows, you may well become the face on the net!
