The blind cricket teams of Pakistan and India will play five matches against each other for the first time as part of the build-up to next month’s scheduled full international series, officials said today. Agha Shaukat Ali, chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council, said the tour would go ahead after receiving clearance from the governments of both countries.
“With the permission of the Pakistan and Indian governments we are hosting India’s blind cricket team in a five-match series,” said Ali.
“When we toured India we were treated like heroes and we want to reciprocate the feelings,” said Ali.
The Indian team is scheduled to cross through the Wagah Border on February 18 and will open the series with a one-day game in Lahore two days later. They will play the next two one-day games in Karachi (February 22 and 24), and a match at Sheikhupura on February 27 and the last at Rawalpindi on February 29.
The funds will be used to treat around 100 blind people from India at the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) hospital in Karachi, said Gillani.
