
A teenager was raped while another was abducted in Kharar a couple of days ago. While the rape was committed on October 21, the abduction took place on November 10. Both crimes came to light today after the Kharar police registered FIRs late on Friday.
The police blamed the alleged rape victim and abducted girl8217;s father for delaying the complaints. 8220;We registered cases instantly,8221; said Kharar City Station House Officer SHO Sub-Inspector Manjeet Singh.
The alleged rape victim, who is a resident of LIC Colony in Kharar and a student of Class X in a private school, reported to the police that on October 21, around 8 am, she left home for school when a 16-year-old boy living in her colony met and offered her a lift to the school on his motorcycle.
8220;Instead of taking me to the school, he drove me to a deserted area opposite Kharar railway station where he raped me from over two hours,8221; the girl said. The accused is a student of Class X in another private school.
The victim said that after raping her, the boy left her near Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Phase VIII, Mohali and threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the incident to anyone.
On coming back home, she told her parents. The next day, she called the accused on his phone, which was answered by the boy8217;s uncle, who also threatened her.
8220;We8217;re still investigating the matter. So far the girl has not given any reason for not reporting the matter to the police for over three weeks and why she called the boy the next day,8221; said the SHO.
A case under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC has been registered against the minor boy and others. No arrests have been made as yet.
In second case, around 16-year-old girl of Landran village near Kharar has been allegedly abducted by a relative of their tenants. Girl8217;s father reported to the police that on November 11 around 8.30 am, his daughter had gone to her school in Kharar but failed to return home till evening.
Suspecting the role of his tenants8217; relative Surinder Kumar alias Bobby, who used to visit their place frequently, the girl8217;s father approached the police. Bobby is also not at his Mohali residence.
Police have booked Bobby, a native of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC. The police were still clueless about the whereabouts of the girl and the accused.
