
CHANDIGARH, Sept 30: A rally was organised here today by the Punjab unit of National Students8217; Union of India to protest the alleged anti-student policies of the Punjab Government.
Students from across Punjab gathered at the Sector 17 Chandigarh Housing Board roundabout here and raised slogans against the state government. Later, a delegation of the party submitted a memorandum listing their demands to the Chief Minister8217;s office.
Their main demand was withdrawal of fee hike, which the union leaders said, had been doubled by the government. They also sought free education for the poor till a quot;certainquot; level extension of the last date for admissions and arranging of extra classes in the wake of teachers8217; strike, said NSUI state president Sumerjit Singh quot;Samiquot;.
