Appealing to the Brahmins for their undivided support, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday criticised the Bahujan Samaj Party for its sudden change of attitude towards Brahmins.
Supported by Janeshwar Mishra 8212; the only Brahmin face in the Samajwadi family 8212; Mulayam said that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi should be ousted from Rae Bareli in the same way they had shown the door to former prime minister Indira Gandhi. Speaking at functions organised by the Rae Bareli Nagar Palika chairman Manoj Pandey, the Samajwadi leaders hit out at Sonia for rising inflation. They patted their own back for introducing schemes like Kanya Vidya Dhan and Unemployment Allowance.
Addressing a crowd of over 10,000 at GIC Ground here, Mishra said Brahmins of Rae Bareli and Baiswara had always played a decisive role in the elections. 8220;Although they made Indira Gandhi win from this place, they also showed her the door,8221; he said.
Speaking on the disproportionate assets case, Mulayam said the Congress was leaving no stone unturned to send him to jail by fabricating cases against him and Amar Singh. 8220;The Centre tried its best to enforce President8217;s rule in UP, but the fate of a people8217;s government cannot be decided through any Supreme Court, Raj Bhawan, Election Commission or President8217;s office,8221; Mishra added.
