NEW DELHI, January 27: At around four this evening, the computer network of the Northern Railways crashed. The result 8212; no ticketing work could be done. The situation is likely to remain the same tomorrow till the fault is rectified.

8220;There was a shutdown at 3.15 p.m. because of which the computers were not operational till the end of the day,8221; explains Chandralekha Mukherjee, spokesperson for the Northern Railways. The technical fault was rectified later in the day.

Reservation and cancellation of tickets could not be done. Passengers had queued up only to find out that the systems were not working and no information was available about the status of their tickets.

Passengers with confirmed tickets have been advised to occupy the berths mentioned on the tickets. Waitlisted passengers have been instructed to go through the charts put up on the platforms.
