Worried by the increase in the abduction of schoolchildren in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today directed the state police to constitute a ‘special school task force’ to patrol school areas during morning hours as most kidnappings happen while children are on their way to school.
Kumar also asked the DGP to launch a special drive to check the sale of drugs and obscene magazines outside school premises. He asked the school managements to institute uniform school hoursto assist the police in actively patrolling school areas.
The CM issued the directives after an interface with teachers and members of school boards to draw up strategies to ensure the schoolchildren’s safety.
