YEREVAN ARMENIA, SEPT 23: IWM Nisha Mohota missed chances galore to mess up a drawish game while S Kidambi failed to counter a penetrating attack by Matokozvan Andranik of Armenia and lost as the Indians had another poor day at the World Junior Chess Championships here.

Mohota was totally off colour in the fifth round game which she lost to third seed Goletiani Rusudan Georgia.

In the Nimzo Indian opening, Nisha had advantage throughout the game but could not press home her advantage. She missed winning in the middle game itself. Nisha8217;s has 2.5 points from five games.

Kidambi 2 could not sustain pressure against Andranik and was forced to resign on the 36th move. Playing black, he chose Carro-Kann defence and landed in heavy tactical position when he played his pawn to B5 square on the 10th move.

The Indian was surprised by his opponent who sacrificed his queen for only a rook amd went all out on the kingside. Kidambi had to lose one more rook in order to save mate.

Even after this, Kidambicould have got a good position had he played his queen to F7 instead of pawn to D3. It turned out to be a wrong move and he slumped to his second loss.

Six players 8212; Asrian Karan and Aronian Levan of Armenia, Gatkin Alexander Russia, Gershan Alik Israel, Swiss Jermi Florian and China8217;s Zhang Pengxian 8212; were leading the boys8217; section with four points each while in girls8217; section, Maria Kouvstova 4.5 maintained her sole lead.
