New laptops for MLAs in Uttarakhand

All 70 legislators of Uttarakhand Assembly and one nominated member would get a laptop and a printer each at Government8217;s expense.

All 70 legislators of Uttarakhand Assembly and one nominated member would get a laptop and a printer each at Government8217;s expense. The state Government made this provision in the supplementary budget passed by the Assembly on Friday. An amount of over Rs 58 lakh has been approved for the purchase of the electronic equipment.

Interestingly, 32 legislators from 2002 Assembly who were able to retain their seats would be getting their second laptop and printer this time. The Government wanted these second-time legislators to either return their first laptops and printers or reimburse part of the cost of the second set of equipment.

However, most of the legislators were unwilling to abide the condition. 8220;The Government has decided to waive off the amount due on the members from the previous Assembly,8221; Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha secretary Mahesh Chandra said.
