New kids on the block

The S.S.U, an organisation for the youth was formed way back in 1971, by Father Cyril Desbraulais. The aim was to form a youth group with members from different communities and diverse backgrounds. The members are embedded with certain values such as helping the poor and the downtrodden and spreading the message of peace and unity.

The group has been meeting for the last 20 odd years at St Anne8217;s convent hall, they meet on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. The session on Wednesdays are of a serious nature, based on personal formation 8211; creativity, public speaking and group dynamics. Sunday sessions are of quot;Crazy gamesquot; a rollicking session of fun, games and laughter.

Every year a Youth leadership training camp is organised in Lonavla for about a week. The main fund raising activity is the annual play held sometime in October, this year the play that is being staged is quot;The ballad of Nestor and Cecyquot;. The play is being staged at Nehru Memorial hall. The group has no membership fee, people are welcome to attend any session that interests them for as long as they like.
