Need 4 lakh professionals in computer hardware, networking: NASSCOM

According to an estimate by NASSCOM, there is an immediate need for four lakh skilled professionals in the field of computer hardware, security and networking in the country. Interestingly, the supply is only ten per cent of the requirement as there are very less number of institutes in the country imparting training in these fields. This statistics was provided by Deepak Kulaskar, zonal head of The Indian Institute of Job Oriented Training IIJT at the launch of IIJT8217;s Pune centre on Thursday.

IIJT is working towards imparting training in computer hardware, security and networking. 8220;According to an estimate by NASSCOM, these fields will require 12 lakhs professionals by 2010,8221; e said. Students are running after courses in computer programming, but hardware, securities and networking have more opportunities. Indian hardware sector is expected to touch 62 billion by 2010, he added.

The IIJT has presence across the country and it is the 276th centre of the institute. 8220;We have 17 different modules of short-term courses for which students can apply after class 12. The fees are in the range of Rs 50,000 and job is guaranteed after the completion of the course,8221; said Kulaskar. 8220;We are starting with batches of 10 students from this year,8221; he added.

The IIJT has invested Rs 18 lakhs for the Pune centre and has tie-up with a multinational company Tiger Global, which has 25 per cent stake in the company.
