NEW DELHI, April 23: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman Imtiaz Khan died following a massive heart attack this evening.

Fifty-four-year-old Khan complained of severe chest pain and uneasiness soon after reaching home around 7.30 p.m.. He was rushed to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, but doctors failed to resuscitate him and declared him dead half an hour later.

An Indian Administrative Officer of the 1967 batch, Khan was appointed as the NDMC chairman one and a half years ago. He was posted as a Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office prior to his NDMC assignment. His body was taken to his Ashoka Road residence later in the evening, where prominent residents of Delhi, including ministers and bureaucrats, had arrived to pay their last respects.
