NCP leader in ‘dance bar deal’ expelled
Mumbai: The NCP on Friday expelled one of its functionaries whose name cropped up for allegedly trying to strike a Rs 12-crore deal with State Bar Owners Association chief Manjitsingh Sethi to help lift the ban on dance bars.
Vilas Satnam was expelled on the charge of anti-party activities, ncp sources said, adding the action was taken after his name figured in the allegations made by Sethi. The latter had claimed that Satnam allegedly demanded Rs 12 crore on behalf of Deputy CM R.R. Patil to withdraw the ban. Satnam allegedly took Sethi to the NCP office to strike the deal and had him meet a contractor. Although the deal never materialised, Sethi blew the lid off. —PTI
