THANE, SEPT 5: Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar tonight said that the citizens of this country should now decide whether they should return the BJP Government to power, which had 8220;failed to protect8221; the security of the country, or elect a Government which would give them total security.
Pawar was addressing an election rally for the NCP candidates for the Thane Lok Sabha constituency and Belapur Assembly constituencies.
Unmindful of the heavy downpour, for more than four hours several thousands of people remained at the Central Maidan Historical Ground in the city.
In his more than thirty-minute speech, he lashed out at the Sena-BJP combine Government in the State and said that it had failed on all fronts. The combine had tarnished the image of the Maharashtra state by its misdeeds and total 8220;mismanagement8221;, he alleged.
Pawar criticised Vajpayee, saying that being the Prime Minister, he had done nothing worth the credit in the country during his tenure. Pawar said that the first phase of the polls in the State indicated that a large number of youths had exercised their voting and this was a step towards bringing in a revelation.
As regards the Congress and Sonia Gandhi8217;s role, he said that it was shameful on the part of the party that they could not find even a single capable Indian male or female to lead the country and wanted a foreigner to plunge the country and its citizens to problems and threat.
Everyone has a right to express his opinion and when I expressed my opinion, I was removed out from the party, he said.
He said that Government schemes were floated by them just to siphon8217; State funds, which the combine did right royally, he opined.
