CHANDIGARH, Feb 21: The pair of Munish Arora and Arun Tuli won the Double-Wicket cricket tournament, beating Girish Bhanot and Viresh Sharda in the final here today.

The pair of Girish and Viresh could manage only 25 runs in the allotted four overs. However, three dismissals five minus for each reduced their net tally to just 10. Tuli and Munish then scored 46, and with two dismissals, their net total of 36 was enough for them to win the tourney.

Earlier, Girish-Viresh had beaten Sunil-Amit by 7 runs while Tuli-Munish got past S Chaudhary-Amit Sharma by 31 runs in the two semifinals. More than 10 teams took part inthe meet organised by UT Cricket Association.

Godrej, PGI XI win
Godrej XI and PGI XI won their respective matches with ease in the Amartex Cup League cricket tournament being played in Panchkula today.

Godrej Club, spurred on by Arun Tuli8217;s spell 5 for 14 and Munish Arora8217;s knock 47 beat JAL XI by four wickets while PGI XI owed their 71-run win over Panchkula Coaching Centre XI to V K Bhardwaj 3 for 9 and Manoj Phulara8217;s spells 3 for 13.

Scores: JAL XI: 105 T P Singh 31, Munish 21; Arun Tuli 5-14, Vinod Binta 3-12, Dinesh Gupta 2-17 lost to Godrej XI: 107 for 6 Munish arora 47, Vaneet Chawla 22; Vishal 3-21.

PGI XI: 165 for 9 Raman Sharma 30, Amit Bhardwaj 29, Suresh 26, Sachin 3-24, Raju 2-34 beat Panchkula CC XI: 94 Raju 43, Naveen 20; V K Bhardwaj 3-9, Manoj Phulara 3-13, Raman 2-15.
