V D Gupta has taken over as general manager of the Western Railway today from Ashok Kumar, who has been promoted to the Railway Board on promotion as a member mechanical.
Gupta was working as an Officer on Special Duty in East Central Railway at Hajipur. Prior to that, in September, 1996, he was chief engineer of the Western Railway from February 1995 to September 1996.
