Rake shortage delays CR services
A shortage of 15 rakes, damaged in Thursday’s downpour, delayed Central Railway’s suburban services by over 15 minutes on Friday. The rakes were being attended to in carsheds, which affected services.
Repair work which went on a war footing all night succeeded in repairing the down line of the Kalyan-Igatpuri track section, over 200 metres of which had been washed away on Thursday. The track which was washed away in torrential rains on Thursday morning was repaired at around 2.45 am Friday morning.
Since this single track was being to run long distance trains, services ran behind schedule. The Up line on the track at Kalyan and Ambernath was cleared by around 6 pm this evening.
The 2859 CSTM-Howrah Gitanjali Express was rescheduled to leave at 12.30 midnight, the 5647 Dadar-Guwahati was scheduled for 11.30 pm, the 2133 Pushpak Express left two hours late at 10.10 am, the 5217 Pawan Express was rescheduled to leave for 8.20 pm, the 1015 Kushinagar Express thatwas to leave on Thursday left at 9 pm on Friday, while the Friday’s 1015 Kushinagar Express left at 12.30 midnight.
The Gitanjali, Kushinagar and Amritsar Express trains were diverted into the city via the Manmad-Daund Pune route.
Western Railway locals ran without any hitch, however, two of its long distance trains were rescheduled. The 2951 Mumbai Central-Delhi Rajdhani departed at 6.25 pm instead of the usual 4.55 pm, the 2961 Dn Mumbai-Indore Avantika Express was rescheduled to depart an hour late at 8.55 pm.
Symposium on domestic violence
Two voluntary organisations working on gender equality — Men Against Violence and Abuse and Purush Uvach (Men Speak), and a Pune based magazine Milun Saryajani have organised a symposium dealing with Section 498(A). Various aspects of the section which deals with domestic violence will be covered on October 11. Ceiling on MDL workers’ bonus
Labour Minister Satyanarayan Jatiya has said the issue of lifting of the bonus ceiling to employees and workers of National Textile Corporation and Mazgaon Dock Ltd are under consideration by the Centre.
“The matter is under consideration and a final decision is likely to be taken in due course of time," Jatiya said in a letter to MP Mohan Rawale.
Conference on sexual health

One additional sleeper class coach will be attached on the following trains during Durga Puja and Diwali festivals to clear the extra rush ofwait-listed passengers: 3004 Dn Mumbai-Howarah Mail via Allahabad from September 22 to November 2, 3003 Up Howrah Mail via Allahabad from September 22 to October 31, 1095 Ahmedabad-Pune-Ahimsa Express from October 10 to October 24, and 1096 Up Pune-Ahmedabad Ahimsa Express from October 9 to 23.
