
The third module of Mumbai airport will become operational in May-June 1999, as against the set target of early 1998. Ranjan Chatterjee, chairman, Airport Authority of India AAI said the delay is on account of AAI adopting a cautious approach to taking risks, especially after the fire in Delhi airport terminal. 8220;We can8217;t take the risk even if it takes more time,8221; he said. The shakedown8217; for Mumbai airport will take place in December, he said, adding the system over here is a replication of the Delhi airport.
One killed in accident
One person was killed and 21 were injured, two of them seriously, when their bus belonging to Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation collided with a BMC dumper at a traffic signal at Kurla today. Police sources said three persons were seriously injured and have been admitted to hospitals while the remaining passengers were released after administrating medical first-aid. Later one person succumbed to his injury at Sion hospital, sources added.
Disco permits
The State Government has granted permission to discotheques of four and five star category hotels in Mumbai to run up to 3.00 am. Hotel owners wishing to seek permission for running the discotheque till 3.00 am should apply in person to the Police Commissioner along with following documents 8212; certificate of star category allotted by Tourism Department, premises licence for performance of discotheques, receipt showing payment of entertainment tax to Collector8217;s office, rate of admission in discotheque, information about self security arrangements etc.
