Rs 5 lakh looted from tobacco co

In a daring daylight robbery, five persons armed with revolvers and choppers looted Rs 5 lakh from a firm at Ghatkopar today. According to employees of Sterling Tobacco Company, the dacoits entered the premises and at gunpoint, ransacked the money and fled in an autorickshaw and a BEST bus. The company is situated on L B S Marg in Doshi Wadi. UNI

Transporters flay diesel price hike

The Union government8217;s decision to hike prices of diesel by 40 per cent has been strongly criticised by transport organisations, say this may have a cascading effect on the prices of essential commodities.

The Maharashtra Tank Lorry Owners8217; Association, the Maharashtra Rajya Truck Tempo Tankers Bus Vahatuk Mahasangh and the Federation of Bombay Motor Transport Operators have called for the immediate withdrawal of the hike, saying the transport trade, especially vehicle owners, are experiencing the worst-ever recession in the last three years. Borivlibank looted

Four unidentified persons looted Rs 10 lakh from the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank Limited at Vishwas Building, L T Road, Borivali West on Wednesday at around 11 a.m. According to police, the culprits armed with revolvers forcibly entered the bank and hit the guard and the cashier on their heads with the weapons. Borivali police are investigating the case.

In yet another incident at Malad, a Maruti van MH04Y1832 was stolen by 2 men at around 10.30 a.m. Malad police said that the complainant was inside the stationary van near the Orlem church bus stop, opposite Citibank, Marve road, when the two miscreants armed with revolvers pulled him out of the vehicle and drove away in it.
