Onion prices to come down by Rs 2 per kg
Prices of onion would come down to Rs 10 per kilo in five days in the local market as its prices had fallen steeply in Gujarat, according to Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, convenor of the state government’s action committee.
The committee was set up to stop export of onion, as prices had risen sharply in domestic markets following poor production due to unseasonal rains.
Gidwani today said in a statement that following the government announcement to suspend exports of onion, prices fell to Rs 11 per kilo from Rs 14 in Gujarat. Meanwhile, the Sena said it would not allow exports until prices came down below Rs 7 per kg. “Once normal inflow starts and prices fall, the suspension will be withdrawn,” a National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (NAFED) official said.
