70-yr-old stabbed to death

A 70-year-old man was stabbed to death by his employee at Girgaum in South Mumbai early on Sunday.

Vithal Poojari 35 stabbed Narayan Dattatreya Dandekar, who owned a garment manufacturing unit and a cloth-piece selling store, after being asked to vacate the ground-floor room at Soman building at Girgaum. The room in Soman building was owned by Dandekar who had rented it out to Poojari. The accused worked as a tailor in Dandekar8217;s unit for the last 15 years.

For some time now Dandekar has been asking Poojari to vacate the room while the latter remained indifferent. The two had frequent arguments over the issue straining their relationship.

On Sunday at 9 am Dandekar arrived at Soman building and gave an ultimatum to Poojari to leave the room. The duo got into an argument during which Poojari fetched a knife and repeatedly stabbed Dandekar. Neighbours rushed profusely bleeding Dandekar with stab wounds on his shoulder, neck, chest and ribs, to BYL Nair hospital atMumbai Central where he was declared dead before admission.

The D B Marg police have arrested Poojari and recovered two knives from him.

WR services disrupted

Seven bogies of a goods train, loaded with sacks of rice, derailed between Virar and Vasai on the Western Railway track at 4 pm today. Railway control informed that two of the bogies were on the Up track as a result of which traffic on Up track between Virar and Vasai were suspended till 7 pm. No one was hurt in the incident, a spokesman for the railway stated.
