Sr PI Patil succumbs to injuries

  • A senior inspector of police, who was seriously injured when a seized revolver he was inspecting went off accidentally, died in a city hospital late last night.
  • Inspector Vishwanath Patil attached to Bhoiwada police station died at KEM Hospital at Parel around 11.45 pm last night. However, hospital sources give the cause of death as heart failure.

    Patil was admitted to KEM Hospital on December 21 around 7.30 am after he was injured while he was inspecting a seized country-made revolver from slain Chhota Rajan aide Pradeep Roge. He was at Bhoiwada police station, where he was posted since May this year, at the time of the incident. The officer had just returned to the police station after he and his squad had gunned down Roge near CR ground at Parel around 5.30 am. The single round had pierced Patil8217;s left eye and made an exit from the rear side of the head. Doctor attending to him had then said the bullet had not ruptured his brain and he was out ofdanger.

    2 BMC guards die in mishap

  • Two security guards of of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC were killed in a major accident when a scooter on which they were travelling dashed against a motor-trailor on Saturday. Police said the victims, Suresh Chintaman Goregaonkar 48 and Madhukar Kerba Shejwal 38, were attached to the Sion hospital. While the duo were travelling on the Bajaj scooter their vehicle rammed into the speeding trailer near the 60-feet road at Kumbharwada at Dharavi. The duo succumbed to their injuries on the spot. The driver of the trailer Rajaram Lakhan Yadav 36 has been detained by Dharavi police and further investigations are on.
