
Rajwani held under MPDA
MUMBAI, August 9: Shiv Sena strongman from Ulhasnagar Gopal Rajwani was today arrested under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act MPDA by Ulhasnagar police. 8220;Gopal has 34 offences registered against him since 1980,8221; deputy commissioner of police Suresh Ahire said. Thane police commissioner Bhujangrao Mohite had earlier said five of the offences were for murder.
Rajwani, who faces a minimum of a year8217;s imprisonment, has been sent to Yerawada jail in Pune, where his arch rival Pappu Kalani has also been kept. Rajwani had reigned supreme in Ulhasnagar since the arrest of Kalani under TADA in 1992. UMC mayor Yashaswini Naik Shiv Sena said, 8220;This shows that regardless of one8217;s position, the law takes its own course.8221;
Additional WR ladies special
Minister of State for Railways Ram Naik today directed the Western Railway to introduce an additional ladies special train between Churchgate and Borivli commencing on August 17, as what they call aRaksha Bandhan gift to all lady commuters in the city. A WR press release said the decision to this effect was issued by the Ministry of State for Railways.
