  • The state government plans to legalise the pagri system prevalent in Mumbai, Minister of State for Housing Raj Purohit announced today.
  • This will also add to the revenue of the state government as it was planning to impose stamp duty on the amount of pagri paid while houses are rented out, he said adding that a legal opinion has been sought to check the feasibility of the proposal.Purohit informed that the final rough draft of the Rent Act will be ready by Wednesday and will be finalised after discussing it with the Chief Minister.

    Wine shop owner shot at

  • A wine shop owner was shot at in Wadala in central Mumbai this evening. According to the police, Yogesh Pujari, owner of Sainath Wines located on the Katrak Road was stepping into his shop around 4.30 pm when three unidentified men accosted him and fired one round at him. The trio quickly got away in a waiting taxi. Pujari has been rushed to KEM hospital.

  • The ShivSena leaders of Maharashtra and Gujarat today staged a protest dharna at Hutatma Chowk condemning the brutal killing of 25 innocent Kashmiri Hindus in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir by ultras. Cultural Affairs Minister Pramod Navalkar said, 8220;We strongly condemn the terrorism being spread in the valley by the ISI and other terrorists outfits encouraged by Pakistan. We oppose the cunning move to internationalise the Kashmir issue by the USA and other countries8221;. While Gujarat state Sena chief Mukesh Gandhi said as Kashmir was an integral part of India, citizens should vow to defend it.
