NEW DELHI, May 10: Indira Gandhi Stadium trainees Mukesh Kumar and Dayawati emerged the best all-round gymnasts in the men8217;s and women8217;s sections respectively in the 38th Delhi State Gymnastic Championships at the I G Stadium here on Sunday.

Mukesh Kumar won gold in pommel horse, roman rings, parallel bars and horizontal bars. He took the bronze in vaulting horse. Mukesh was given a tough fight by his I G Stadium colleague Madan Mohan, who won the gold in floor exercises and vaulting horse while he finished second in roman rings.

For the all-round best award, Mukesh earned 41.30 points while Madan had 35.65 to finish second. The team championships in the men8217;s section was won by Bharatiya Khel Yogashram which logged 102.70 points to edge out Aurobindo College 99.35 to second place.

In the women8217;s section, Dayawati dominated the show by winning gold in floor exercises, uneven bars, balancing beam and vaulting horse to take away the all-round best award with a tally of 32.40 points. Shefali Rawat of Guru Harkrishan Public School, India Gate came second with 27.90.

Dharmender Kumar, who has appeared for the Board 10th examinations from N P Boys Senior Secondary School, No. 1 Mandir Marg, was the best all-round gymnast in the under-17 age group.
