
Supporting residents of south Kashmir8217;s Shopian district who threatened to launch agitation if the Government failed to resume work on the stalled Mughal Road, former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said, 8220;Unnecessary hue and cry is being raised over the construction of Mughal Road.8221;
He said that 8220;unnecessary impediments have been intentionally created in the construction work which is a vital connectivity project8221;. 8220;Nobody objects to the construction of Delhi-Dehradun expressway which passes through Rajaji National Wildlife Park in Uttarakhand,8221; he added.
The work on the 89-km Mughal Road started after the coalition Government led by Mufti took the reins of the state, but the work was stopped after environmentalists raised objection, saying it was passing through wild life and forest area.
Mughal Road connects Shopian to the Poonch district and it is an alternative to the Srinagar-Jammu Highway which remains closed for most part of winter.
