New app maps houses of criminals, anti-eve teasing patrolling routes for police checks

Stating that the application has been given input of key locations on patrolling routes, he added that, “There are a total of 1045 points of which 973 have been identified by police stations and 73 have been identified based on inputs received from citizens on social media. The movement of patrolling teams along all these points is mapped and verified whether a team has covered a point or not. This data is reviewed the next day and feedback is given.”

He further said, “A key feature of this application, we have mapped the locations of houses of criminals on police records. We have done so for 1585 criminals till now and the process is on. When a police team goes to check on a history sheeter — which is a key preventive policing measure — the location and corresponding criminal’s status is marked on the app. The cops on duty mark the criminal as present or otherwise at the location at the time of the check. These features have made night rounds, patrolling, location checks of criminals very efficient and easy to monitor. Whenever there is an important festival, corresponding check points and patrolling routes are marked on the app. For the upcoming civic elections the voting booths will also be mapped on this application for policing checks.”
