The Election Commission is set to host an international conference on democracy and election management here, with discussions on reimagining democracies for the future, AI in elections and purity of electoral rolls on the agenda.
The conference, to be held at Bharat Mandapam from January 21 to January 23, will include participation of election management bodies from 45 countries, apart from diplomats, academics and state Chief Electoral Officers, said Rakesh Verma, Director General of EC’s India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management, at a press conference on Wednesday.
The conference will follow the theme of “democracy for an inclusive, peaceful, resilient and sustainable world”, he said. Among the thematic sessions will be one on “AI in elections”, he said. Chief Electoral Officers of all 36 states and UTs will make presentations on best practices and model international standards, including on maintaining purity of electoral rolls.
