
VADODARA, Aug 22: University officials have sent notifications of proposed actions which could be taken on students found guilty of ragging and suggested measures which could be taken to prevent such incidents. This follows complaints of ragging in several faculties and hostels of the M S University.
Speaking about the proposal, officiating chief warden of hostels K C Tiwari said, 8220;There were media reports about ragging in various faculties of the university, following which the university has decided to send the proposal to all the hostel wardens and the deans of faculties.8221;
Tiwari said there was a complaint of ragging at the Faculty of Performing Arts and one at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hostel, but after an inquiry was instituted, both the inmates and the hostel warden denied any such incidents.
The deans of one of the faculties said that the proposed actions included suspension from class for minor offences and suspension from examinations for major ones. Citing examples, he said the incidents reported at the Science faculty could be classified as minor.
Tiwari added that no complaints have yet been brought to the authorities8217; notice following admissions.
