MPT hold Dempo

Dempo who were leading by two goals till 72nd minute of play collapsed like nine pins towards the close of the play conceding two goals to level the score 2-2. The half-time score was 1-0. After change of ends, Dempo increased their lead through substitute Eusebio D8217;Souza in the 72nd minute who headed in a flag-kick taken by another Nigerian recruit Olayinko Oyedezi 2-0.

Down by two goals, MPT fought gallantly towards close of the play and scored two quick goals through Marshal Coutinho in the 80th minute and two minutes before the long whistle through Luis Cardozo, who restored the parity off a pass from Vishant Pednekar 2-2.

MPT had earlier held table toppers Salgaocar Sports Club and Churchill Brothers and this was their third triumph in the second leg. With today8217;s result, Dempo take their tally to eight points from seven outings and MPT has collected three points from equal number of matches. Dempo and Vasco are tied on equal points, but the former have played seven matches, one more than the latter.

They will now have two play-off matches with the runners-up of the first division and the winners will qualify for the next edition of the league.

The teams in contention for the title are the Salgaocar and Churchill Brothers.
