CHANDIGARG, March 8: A city resident, Vidyawati, booked here on December 25 last year under Sections 363, 366, 368 and 120-B IPC, was today declined bail by UT Additional District and Sessions Judge G.S. Sandhu.

Earlier in his complaint, Nazir Hussain, stated that his daughter Rehana had been kidnapped by Roshan Lal, Vidyawati8217;s son. It was further stated that Vidyawati had a hand in abetting the crime.

In her bail application, accused Vidyawati stated that she and her husband Nand Lal had already disowned their son and that a notice to this effect had been published in the newspaper dated October 27, 1998. The prosecution, however, produced the statements of one Radha Devi and Darshan Devi who said that Roshan had been residing with his father. The prosecution opposed the bail application on grounds that custodial interrogation of the accused would be helpful in solving the case.
