Mortar shell blast kills 2 children in Kashmir

A police spokesman in Srinagar confirmed the death of two children. 8220;A deafening blast took place at Malangam resulting in the deaths of two children,8221; he said.

The children were identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone, 15, and Sikander Sheikh, 13. Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh 12 suffered injuries.

8220;The boys were playing in the field when they saw the shell and started playing with it. It exploded with a big bang killing the two boys,8221; he said. 8220;While one of the boys died on the spot another succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. Yousuf is undergoing treatment in the hospital. Doctor8217;s said he is out of danger.8221;

The police have registered a case and started investigations are on.

According to sources, the site where the blasts took place near the LoC has seen heavy firing between Indian and Pakistani troops in recent times.
