The secretary of the Baroda Cricket Association, Kiran More, who has joined Essel Group’s Indian Cricket League, may resign from his post on Sunday. More is likely to announce his decision when the BCA managing committee meets here tomorrow evening. The Board of Control for Cricket in India does not recognise ICL and has written to its associations that any of its associate member, who has any link with any “unapproved tournaments”, will be deprived of benefit or assistance from the BCCI. More’s decision comes in the wake of the letter and an intense media glare.“We will know after the managing committee meeting tomorrow evening. I can’t comment on this what will be the likely outcome. The elected members of the committee will take a decision in this regard. More may also decide to resign. But that’s his call. I am not in a position to comment. And as a CEO, I am not a part of the managing committee either. BCCI’s Prof Ratnakar Shetty has written to the associations, including us, that if anyone is connected to any unapproved tournaments in any capacity, he will stand to lose benefits from the BCCI,” BCA CEO Makrand Waingankar said.BCA vice-president Samarjit Gaekwad confirmed that the More issue will be discussed at the meeting. “The managing committee meets every month. We have received a letter from the BCCI and we will discuss it tomorrow,” he said. When contacted, More said: “I am very sorry I can’t talk to you on this.”A source close to More said, in all probability, More will resign from the post of BCA secretary on his own. “More has always tried to keep himself away from politics. He will resign on his own,” the source said.
