Bad light stopped play on the third day of the second Test between England and New Zealand at Old Trafford on Sunday. England were 76-1 with Michael Vaughan and Andrew Strauss on the crease, chasing 218 for victory.

Earlier, Monty Panesar took six wickets to help bowl out New Zealand for 114 in their second innings. The left-arm finger spinner had figures of 6-37 off 17 overs, including his 100th Test dismissal, while Ryan Sidebottom took 2-26 off 12.2 overs.

With New Zealand on 85-2, Panesar had James Marshall 28, Brendon McCullum 0 and Ross Taylor 15 out leg-before-wicket, and captain Daniel Vettori 4 caught by Stuart Broad.
