Bollywood starlet Monica Bedi arrived her village Chabbewal in Hoshiarpur district to a welcome at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, she was released from Hyderabad jail after a special CBI court had granted her bail on Tuesday in a fake passport case.
Dressed in a pink chikan kurta teamed with jeans, Monica wore a smile, clearly taken aback by a high-voltage homecoming. She said she was happy to be back in her village.
Speaking to mediapersons in the courtyard of the family8217;s old haveli, she said, 8220;I have left my future to my family, they know what is best for me.8221; Her father Prem Kumar Bedi and uncle Purshottam Lal were by her side.
When asked about Abu Salem, she replied quietly, 8220;No comments.8221;
The girl whose Bollywod dreams were cut short by her liaison with the underworld, let everyone know that she was back on the track. 8220;I have received many offers from the film industry, but I can8217;t disclose the details.8221; Her future, she asserted, was in films. 8220;I won8217;t go abroad.8221;
And no, she did not face any threat from the underworld. 8220;The media has tried to spice up my case, but it8217;s a simple passport case.8221;
She made no bones about her eagerness to bury her past. 8220;I will try to forget my past, unfortunate events are best forgotten,8221; she declared as almost the entire village poured in to have a glimpse of her.
Monica was philosophical about life behind bars. 8220;It was a learning experience. I have come out a much stronger person, now I can face any odds. The prison life has taught me to distinguish the good from the bad.
8220;How long do you think you will stay here, you8217;re used to Norway, Portugal8230;8221; asked a reporter from Delhi. 8220;I8217;ve just arrived,8221; she shrugged. 8220;It8217;s my native village, if I can stay in jail, why can8217;t I stay here.8221;
