BJP got Varahagiri Umacharan Giri, the youngest son of former President V.V. Giri, on board on Monday. Giri, an MBA graduate from the San Francisco University who has worked with different multinational companies, including Union Carbide, joined the BJP in Bangalore in the presence of BJP president M. Venkaiah Naidu. Former Karnataka minister Krishna Reddy also joined the BJP, along with his supporters from Kolar district.

Congress also received some good news from Karnataka when former minister and JD(S) Karnataka unit vice-president Premananda Jayawant joined the party along with several Uttara Kannada district local leaders. Jayawant joined the party in the presence of CM S.M. Krishna, saying he had faith in Sonia Gandhi’s leadership and the party’s policies.

ADMK got a boost with Cong ex-MP C.K. Kuppusamy joining it on Monday in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa in Coimbatore.
