The Election Commission is believed to have expressed displeasure over the controversial election speeches of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Modi, in his reply, had denied defending the fake encounter killing and said his remarks in a public meeting on the issue were provoked by Gandhi8217;s attack on him.

Gandhi, in her reply, is believed to have said that she did name anyone in particular when she made her remarks 8216;merchants of death8217;.

But in her reply she also did not specifically exclude Modi from the implications of her statement.
