BJP MLA from Radhanpur in Patan district Shankar Chaudhary was arrested on Monday for his alleged involvement in a rioting and attempt to murder case on September 26.

Chaudhary is accused of attempting to kill Radhanpur City Congress president Ankur Joshi and three others.

The incident was reportedly a fallout of Joshi moving the Gujarat High Court against Chaudhary, accusing the latter of siphoning off the 2001 quake relief funds amounting to Rs 61 lakh. Joshi accused Chaudhary of pressurising him to withdraw the petition several times. When Joshi refused to withdraw the petition, Chaudhary along with six others allegedly attacked him and three others and is also said to have opened fire. 8220;Two persons were injured in the incident and Joshi later filed a complaint against Chaudhary,8221; said Patan SP Jitendra Rajgor.
