The case of Bihar’s missing DIG (Railways) Ajay Verma, who is evading arrest in a property dispute case, took an interesting turn on Thursday, after his wife pleaded her husband’s case before CM Nitish Kumar and alleged that senior police officers were framing him in order to save their skin. Kumar immediately ordered a probe into the incident to address the lady’s grievances. The probe order has left the police top brass confused since the police have already found the DIG guilty. DIG Verma was accused of misusing his official position in a property dispute between a couple in Hajipur. Tirhut Range DIG Sunit Kumar who was entrusted to supervise the case, found Verma guilty and ordered his arrest last week. The police also procured a non-bailable arrest warrant against Verma after which he went missing. Today morning Verma’s wife, Sampa went to meet the CM at his “janta darbar” and pleaded her husband’s case. She alleged that her husband was being framed as he was conducting a probe into a scam involving disappearance of NSC certificates in which a couple of top police officers were involved. She even pointed towards present DGP AR Sinha who was present there. “My husband was on the verge of issuing notices to the top police officers when he was framed in the case,” she alleged. The chief minister immediately summoned three top police officers and asked them to probe the matter. Kumar said that the legal proceeding against the DIG will be on but at the same time a probe will be conducted to verify the claims made by his wife.
