NEW DELHI, MARCH 17: Acting on reports of attacks on the minority Christian community in Gajapati district of Orissa, the National Minorities Commission has urgently sought a report on the incidents from the state government.

The Commission has directed the Orissa Government to send a report on the incidents within two days.

In a fresh bout of violence directed against the Christian community, 12 houses belonging to Christians were burnt down and some members of the minority community physically attacked in Rananai village of the district on March 16.

An NCM member was also directed to speak to the Chief Secretary, Orissa, regarding the incidents and to ascertain the situation prevailing now.
