Nashik Nov 18: The Indian Air Force station, Ojhar, completed major repair and overhauling of the 150th MiG 23 combat aircraft on Wednesday, taking a significant step in setting up of technical infrastructure for overhauling facilities in the country.
The indigenous overhaul-cum-repair facilities for MiG 23 aircraft had been established at the IAF station at Ojhar in 1990. Since then, the station has overhauled 150 fighter planes of the MiG 23 variant, despite non-availability of spares from Russia and a resource crunch.
Speaking at a function on the occasion, Air Marshal S S Gupta, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, said the 11 Base Repair Depot BRD at Ojhar had not only indigenised a large number of spares and equipment but also ensured high standards of performance.
